Read-A-Thon 2024 is now over, but it’s not too late to give! We’re still striving to reach our goal. Money raised allows PTA to keep funding opportunities for our students like the author visit from Elana Arnold that the whole school enjoyed during Read-A-Thon.
Donate through the button above or text HTREADS to 44321
And don’t forget to turn in your tracking sheets by Friday, April 19 to be eligible to win prizes. Thank you, Orcas!
Read-A-Thon is an opportunity to celebrate our students’ love of reading while raising funds for PTA-sponsored programs and projects at Highland Terrace. Students challenge themselves to read or participate in a literacy activity every day, and collect pledges in support of their efforts. Check out our Read-A-Thon kickoff video.
Our goals for the Read-A-Thon are to reach 100% reading participation and to raise $12,500 as a school.
Of course, there are opportunities to win prizes as well: simply turn in your completed tracking sheet by Friday, April 19 to win a Read-A-Thon pencil and be entered in a drawing to win a pizza voucher to Round Table Pizza. Raise at least $25 to be eligible for even more prize drawings!
Students bring home tracking sheets and an info letter to families with all the details on Read-A-Thon on April 1st. You can also view and print these handouts below:
We look forward to building community by reading together, giving together, and participating in and supporting all kinds of literacy activities for all HT families. Thank you for your support!
Create a Personal Donation Page for Your Student
Families can create a personalized donation page at our Read-A-Thon site to track their student’s personal reading and pledge goals. You can use your student’s page to set their reading goals and track minutes read, as well as share a personal fundraising request with family and friends.
Here’s how to create your student’s personal page:
- Visit our Read-A-Thon donation site
- Use invite code 02941 to register your student (the code may be pre-filled for you)
- Follow the remaining prompts to sign up and create your student’s reader profile
If you have more than one student, you can create additional reader profiles from the Settings menu once you’ve finished creating your account.
Whole School Reading Celebration
We have many ways to celebrate reading as a community during Read-A-Thon. This year, we’re including a school-wide Community Read, where every student will receive a copy of a book by Elana K. Arnold, either A Boy Called Bat or What Riley Wore.
Join Us for Virtual Story Night
Tuesday, April 2
6:30–7:30pm
Virtual Story Night Zoom link
All HT families are invited to join our community online on April 2nd. We’ll read a chapter from A Boy Called Bat together in both English and Spanish, as well as share another elementary-level book from Elana K. Arnold, What Riley Wore. We’ll also hear more from our school counselor about autism.
