Reflections is an annual National PTA arts recognition program that helps students showcase their artistic thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
Students from all grades and abilities are invited to create original works based on this year’s theme:
“I am Hopeful Because…“
Two Ways to Enter
Enter by email
- Download and fill out the entry form through the button above.
- Email the completed form and your artwork to HTPTAReflections@gmail.com.
Enter at school
- Fill out the form on the back of the flyer that was given out by your teacher. Flyers will be sent home by teachers in November.
- Turn in the completed form along with your artwork to the Highland Terrace front office.
Deadline for submissions is Friday, November 17th, 2023
Student Entry Rules
Entries are judged on creative ability and interpretation of the theme. Students are encouraged to reflect deeply on what the theme means to them and how it inspired their piece.
Students can submit an entry in one or more of six categories:

| Literature | Works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics | View Rules |
| Music Composition | Original musical composition, with or without words | View Rules |
| Photography | Color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure | View Rules |
| Visual Arts | Drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling | View Rules |
| Film/Video | Original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or music video/film | View Rules |
| Choreography/Dance | Originally choreographed dance composition | View Rules |
Student works are critiqued against others in the same division:
- Primary: Preschool – Grade 2
- Intermediate: Grades 3 – 5
- Special Artist: Students with disabilities (who receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504) – 2023-24 Special Artist rules
