Traffic Help:

Highland Terrace needs everyone’s help and cooperation to Keep Our Students and Families safe during, before and after school.

Here are some some helpful tips to help everyone stay safe during times when traffic is congested:

Reduce the number of cars dropping off/picking up:

  • Utilize the school bus (call transportation at 393-4277 to make arrangements)
  • Walk to/from school
  • Carpool with other families

When you drop off/pick up children at school:

  • In the front turn around—remain in your vehicle at all times and pull forward as cars in front of you depart
  • Encourage your child to get in and out of the vehicle as efficiently as possible
  • Never block the entrance to the bus lane while waiting to enter the parking lot
  • Always yield to buses—they have priority
  • Never pass a car that’s stopped at the crosswalk—it’s against the law
  • Always plan ahead with your child (avoid last minute confusion/stress)
  • Stay off your cell phone—be attentive
  • Please respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways, even if it’s just for a minute.

Other strategy to consider:

  • Arrive early and park your car in the back parking lot or on a nearby street.
